Panaji: India Energy Week 2026 commenced today with a strong call for sustained investment, international partnerships and coordinated action to advance the global energy transition, amid evolving demand dynamics and rising energy security concerns.

The opening session featured keynote addresses by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri; Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates and Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC; and a welcome address by Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant.

Speakers reiterated India Energy Week 2026 as a premier international forum that translates global energy dialogue into actionable outcomes, fostering innovation, implementation and collaboration across the energy value chain.

India Energy Week 2026: A Trusted Global Platform

Delivering the keynote address, Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted India’s steady progress toward energy security, self-reliance and climate justice under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He noted that India Energy Week has rapidly evolved into a trusted global platform, bringing together policymakers, producers, consumers, technology providers and investors during a period of unprecedented transition and volatility in the global energy system.

Puri emphasised that the global energy transition is fundamentally about “energy addition” rather than replacement. He underscored the need for sustained investment across oil, gas, biofuels, green hydrogen, LNG and clean cooking fuels to ensure energy availability, affordability and sustainability.

The Minister outlined India’s reforms-driven approach, including policy measures aimed at attracting global capital and strengthening domestic energy resilience.

He also highlighted the opening of large sedimentary basins for exploration, successive Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) and Discovered Small Fields (DSF) bidding rounds, along with continued policy reforms designed to enhance investor confidence and participation.

The Minister further noted that India’s rapid expansion of LPG coverage, increased access to clean cooking fuels and a diversified energy mix reflect the country’s commitment to inclusive growth and equitable energy access.

India Energy Week 2026 Reinforces Role as Global Energy Action Platform

Addressing the gathering, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber stated that global energy demand is entering a phase of large-scale transformation, driven by emerging markets, digitalisation and the integration of diverse energy systems. He emphasised that India is central to these global megatrends and is poised to be a decisive driver of energy demand in the coming decades.

Dr Al Jaber cautioned that underinvestment remains the greatest risk facing the global energy system and called for balanced investment across all forms of energy to ensure long-term security, affordability and sustainability.

Highlighting the depth of the UAE–India energy partnership, he reaffirmed ADNOC’s role as a reliable supplier of crude oil, LNG and LPG to India, while reiterating the UAE’s commitment to long-term, trust-based partnerships that deliver certainty and resilience.

Welcoming global delegates, Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said India Energy Week 2026 has emerged as a global platform that converts ideas into action.

As the host state for India Energy Week 2026, Goa showcased its vision for sustainable development, including a long-term roadmap to achieve 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050.

He also stressed the importance of balancing the green economy with the blue economy, ensuring environmental sustainability alongside responsible use of marine resources.
